Welcome
Living out the ministry of Jesus together, two millennia apart, in real time.
Welcome to the JC33 HUB
This site will eventually be the central focus for anyone wanting to engage with JC33.
At the moment it's a guide to what JC33 will be.

The bare bones of the idea
At the moment the whole concept is still in development - but here's the brilliant bones.

timeline
2030 will loosely mark 2,000 years since Jesus of Nazareth began a public ministry that has changed the planet in a way that is still unmatched by any other figure from human history.
The Bible says that Jesus began his public-facing ministry when he was around 30, and most agree it lasted two and a half, to three years before his revolutionary way of being got him executed by those in authority. Christians all over the globe for the past 2,000 years believe that not only did Jesus minister then, but that he rose from the dead (as he said he would) and that people today can know him, have a living, transformative relationship with him, and live in unity with God, each other, and ourselves through him. This is the living experience of around 2.6 billion people across the earth today.
JC33 will loosely follow the timeline of Jesus' life and ministry over a three year period, marking it with key events and opportunities both centrally and as individual churches.

The big overview
We will launch things using Christmas 2030 (the very end of that year), meaning that the timeline will last 2031, 2032 and to Pentecost 2033. Two and a half years.
There will be just 5 or 6 major events each year, only 2 or 3 of which will involve whole-island gatherings. The rest will either be N, S, E, W type events, or targeted at specific groups (e.g. one major kids event, one major event aimed at leaders, one for training, and a few designed around sharing Jesus explicitly) - but any church can run as many or as few events / opportunities as they wish over the 3 years.
It will all build from Christmas 2030 up to Holy Week 2033 - marking 2,000 years since the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Events
There will be two types of events happening as the three years progress.
Firstly there will be key events that are organised centrally, with larger resourcing and advertising. These will be organised as partnerships of churches working together, from multiple streams (denominations) of the Christian Church. For instance, maybe a speaker on social justice, with every church invited, or a giant family picnic with bands and storytelling to mark "The Feeding of the 5000", with every church across the Island getting an invitation.
Secondly, there will be local events and opportunities organised by individual churches or church groups. Maybe a mens group could host a local listening service to talk about mental health, or a church could run a series of services aimed at praying for healing, to remember the multiple times Jesus healed people.
All of these events, both big and small, would be on the google calendar on this site, alongside our rough timeline of the ministry of Jesus.

partnerships and involvement
Partnership and involvement in this whole mission initiative will be designed and built to be easy, relational and low on work-load.
We will be building a small team between the denominations who will oversee, manage, dream, create, advertise - so that any church wanting to get involved can do so from the smallest involvement of simply advertising other people's events and going along - right through to staging your own events or helping make the central events happen.
Everything works from an 'opt-in' base, from whole denominations or groups of churches, to individual churches and individual people.

Alpha and other courses
The final event would be something like a weekend conference somewhere for all churches and visitors / explorers of faith, to come and hear speakers, worship together, and ask for the Holy Spirit of God to come fill our churches afresh.
After 3 years of working together, meeting new people etc, this should be a beautiful and powerful way to finish.

Pentecost 2033 - the final event
The final event would be something like a weekend conference somewhere for all churches and visitors / explorers of faith, to come and hear speakers, worship together, and ask for the Holy Spirit of God to come fill our churches afresh.
After 3 years of working together, meeting new people etc, this should be a beautiful and powerful way to finish.
A couple of helpful countdowns.
Everything will kick off at Christmas, 2030, so here's a countdown to that December.
...and it all builds up to Pentecost 2033, so here's a countdown to that moment too.
Example ideas
With the whole of Jesus' life to cover, there's no shortage of ideas.
It's the dream that we cover some basics well and often, big things as a whole island, and also key into (and seek to bless) organisations that share our values. Here are a few examples to get your creative juices flowing. They're holding ideas rather than what's actually going to happen.
Jesus' birth | december 2030 - launch events
How about something like a drama team who move around the Island (NSEW) for a whole week, with the full cast and animals. We stage a highly interactive version of the Christmas Story where small groups move from character to character, hearing their part in the Christmas story, and getting a mini gift each time. There would be one event in Ramsey, one in Peel, one in Castletown and one in Douglas.
We three Kings| January 2031 - launch events
We get a couple of genuine camels from a Safari Park in the UK and they 'live' at the Wildlife Park as a Christmas gift to the Park (increasing their footfall and profits), but as part of the experience, people get to ride them. At the end of the ride they're given some gold, frankinsence and myrrh with a booklet explaining why Christians think these things are important.
Jesus as a teenager questions the religious leaders | January 2031
Multiple 'open floor' opportunities for groups to meet with the Bishop, possibly the Archbishop of York, local ministers and UK evangelists. No questions are off the table, and we run events for specific groups such as: All GCSE RE / Philosophy / Ethics students, All A-Level Philosophy, ethics, politics and RE students, Uni students (before they return to UNI), under 18-25's etc.
John The Baptist Preaches in the Wilderness | January 2031
Island-wide event for Christians already in churches, where we get in figures involved in social action (e.g. Salvation Army / Church Army / Anti-Slavery / Leprosy Mission), and we hold a series of seminars somewhere fairly remote but with good parking.
Jesus is baptised in the wilderness | February 2031
Large-scale adult and teens baptisms somewhere super public (previously this happened on Peel Beach). Maybe we find a location inside (such as hiring Ramsey Swimming Pool for the evening).
The Temptations in the wilderness | February - March 2031
Opportunity for a 40-day period of preparation for the next 3 years of ministry. People could choose to fast (e.g. only eating evening meals, no social media) but would also sign up to one act of kindness per day for the 40 days (Based on Isaiah 58).
Jesus turns water into wine | March 2031
We could launch multiple marriage-enhancement courses for people already married, also inviting anyone looking to get married to take part at the same time. Also, perhaps a huge wedding-fayer event speaking about all the benefits of choosing to have your wedding in a place or worship.
Jesus speaks at night with Nicodemus | March 2031
Training and inspiration day for Christian leaders of all churches, where people are invited over who are truly inspirational speakers. An afternoon and evening where leaders get the opportunity to explore how as a christian leader we can keep our personal faith alive and fiery, full of the Spirit and the Word.
Jesus' initial miracles and healings in Galilee | June 2031
Trained and resources teams of people available on 3 successive Saturdays (e.g. 10-3) in empty shop fronts in Douglas / Peel / Ramsey / Castletown, there for people to come in and pray with for healing in particular.
The miraculous catch of fish | July 2031
One particular Friday evening is chosen as "Winner-Winner Chippy-Dinner" evening - in multiple locations across the Island, people arrive having bought themselves a chippy dinner from their favourite chippy (potentially with a 10% discount if they come with a token from the website), and at the event there is a re-telling of the story, and a short message and oportunities for prayer.
Jesus heals a leper | September 2031
We invite over the rep's from Leprosy Mission, and give their ministry a big push with a quiz, a ceilidh or something else brilliant.
